Easy Vaseline Perfume Hack to Avoid Airport Liquid Restrictions

Tools and materials:

  • Vaseline
  • Your favorite perfume or essential oils (I'm using Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium)
  • Small container
  • Spoon or small spatula
  • A microwave or a small saucepan and a heatproof bowl
  • A toothpick or wooden skewer

1. Prepare your workspace

Clean and dry your tools and container to ensure your solid perfume remains fresh and free of any contaminants.

2. Melt the Vaseline

Scoop about 1 tablespoon of Vaseline into a heatproof bowl or microwave-safe dish. Heat the Vaseline gently, in 10-second bursts, until it softens or melts completely.

Alternatively, place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until the Vaseline melts.

3. Add your fragrance

Once the Vaseline is melted and warm (not hot), add your scent.

Spray 8–12 pumps of your favorite perfume directly into the melted Vaseline. Or add 10–15 drops of your favorite essential oil (or a combination of essential oils).

Stir thoroughly to ensure the fragrance is evenly distributed.

4. Pour and cool

Quickly transfer the mixture into your small container while it’s still liquid.

Allow the mixture to cool and solidify completely at room temperature. This process usually takes about 1–2 hours.

5. Label and use

If you’re making multiple scents, label each container with the fragrance name.

To apply, simply rub a clean fingertip over the solid perfume and dab it onto your pulse points, such as your wrists, neck, or behind the ears.

Tips:

  • Experiment with scents: Combine different essential oils to create unique blends. Popular combinations include lavender and vanilla, or citrus and mint.
  • Storage: Keep your solid perfume in a cool, dry place to maintain its consistency.
  • Test first: Before applying, test a small amount on your skin to ensure you don’t have an allergic reaction.
